How to use pink paint in the home

Pink is possibly one of the most varied colours. At one end of the scale, it is pale and delicate, reminiscent of roses in a summer garden. It can also be peachy and bold, dark and moody and Barbie-bright. That’s why it’s important to make sure you choose the right shade of pink when you decorate. Our swatch of colours and handpainted colour patches will help you do this, and here are some ideas of how you can use this fabulous colour in your home.

Contrasting pinks in the bathroom

Quite a few different pinks give a nod to the sea, from the lighter, shell-like Love Heart to the more vibrant coral tones of Jaipur. It’s why it works well in a bathing environment, and it is very popular in bathrooms, whether they are larger family rooms, en-suites or just the downstairs loo.

Pink can be drenched all over a wall and contrasts brilliantly with a darker colour like Frogs at Night or In The Canopy – both rich greens, which really complement the playful pink to provide a strong and very stylish look.

How to use pink in the bedroom

Pink is romantic, it is fair to say. This makes it ideal for bedrooms, particular the more subtle pinks such as Rosebud or Calm Serenity. These delicate, almost creamy pinks would work well over all four walls thanks to their gentle tones, however they could also be used as a base to a bolder pink such as Bouquet – this paint has a confidence, it is an earthy, deeper pink that will bring a contemporary feeling to a room while maintaining the overall ambience. Perfect for a chimney breast or fitted wardrobes, you could also use it to create a painted headboard on the lighter pink, to add a little layering to the room.

How to use pink paint in a children’s bedroom

Bright, bold and fun pinks will always work well in a young person’s bedroom as they are playful, innocent and optimistic. Flamboyance is one of our liveliest shades of pink paint – as the name suggests! – and used over a few walls, will not fail to raise a smile. If you feel you need a little balance, a grey such as Raindrops Eggshell will settle the colours – pink and grey is a classic colour combination that never goes out of style. Thanks to the massive variety in our portfolio of pink colours, it really can perform brilliantly throughout your home, whatever your personal taste.
